I was talking with a friend on the phone the other day.
It was wonderful to catch up with her a bit because she recently moved to a new town, and really doesn’t know anyone there…yet! She was telling me that recently she was at the mall window shopping and a woman approached her to tell how nice she looked! What a nice surprise!?
The lady went on to say, your clothes are nice, but it’s more than that…and I can’t figure it out! I can’t take my eyes off of you! What is it? Hair, make up? Fran said to her, it’s simple. I OWN MY LOOK! The lady smiled at her, it took her a minute…and then said, why yes you do! That IS it I think!
Get Up. Dress Up. Show Up….and the rest will be history?
That is the secret! When you Dress Up…you know you look fine. And fine, on most days, is GREAT! Show Up…wherever it is that you are going! Show your world that you…Own Your Look! They will take notice….and you will be glad you did!
Lent. It’s here! It snuck up on me!
I saw a good one the other day…this year, instead of giving up candy for Lent, why not try to separate from some of the things weighing you down….in spirit!?
Take one thing away per day! It’s that simple. Bring a few of the things you are holding on to to the front of your closet. Make it a point to wear them….especially those things that you haven’t worn for ages….but somehow you can’t part with them. Try it….wear that thing for one day….my guess is that by the end of the day you will feel like you have a new pair of black pants!!! That you love!! And you can’t wait to wear again! But if not, and I think you will know immediately, take that thing off, put it directly into a shopping bag set in the corner of your closet and donate it to a cause that is near you. (Don’t OVER think it!) You will be glad to have it out of your closet…and someone will love to have it!!
This goes for your closet, but the kitchen drawers, those catch all spots that we all have somewhere in the house, too. The serving spoon you got as a wedding present? The chipped and cracked dishes and glasses also.
Then when SHOWTIME! Doncaster Spring/Summer 2016 returns (April 6th or so!) you will be ready to get some beautiful new looks! You will look lovely! And you will feel even better!
Lent has begun….that’s true. But you know what they say….Better Late Than Never!
Think about it. I bet you will be glad that you did!
Happy New Year! Everyone seems to agree … 2016 will be a banner year!!
Apparently for 2016, New Year’s resolutions are “Old Hat”! I have it on good authority! They say that by 1/17….anyone who did make a resolution is resigned to the fact that the impending change….it probably isn’t that important after all…and it probably isn’t going to happen!
So let’s decide to move forward in a more positive way. Do you know how we do that? We just decide to. We just make it a point to GET UP. DRESS UP. & SHOW UP.
Are you tired? Need a boost….but don’t really know how?? Or what? Give yourself permission to try a new look. Check out the fashion magazines. Think about it. Which look do you like? Which look do you think you might be able to embrace?
Still can’t decide? Then come see me! Together we will experiment with some new looks!

Looking forward to seeing you!!
As you may already know … although I have been working with Doncaster and loving their stylish fashions for many years, my BBD Style Fashion Blog is relatively a new thing and I’m having soooo much fun learning along the way!
My website designer is Belle Media and together we’ve created a wonderful online place to share fashion trends, tips, and tricks. If you would like to start a website or need help updating your current website feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to know more about the variety of services offered you can visit her website at www.bellemedia.net.
A great tip I have learned is to “keep things consistent”, whether in-person and/or online. In keeping with this idea I’m furthering my business branding with these lovely BBD Style business cards, also designed by Belle Media. I look forward to reaching out to even more fashionistas and continuing to share my joy and love of fashion, family, friends, and of course, the finer things in life!!!!!
Please join us in this conversation … always feel free to comment on my posts and share your thoughts with us all!!!
Why not make it a new you!!??
Have you had too much holiday fun? Are you tired? Fed up? Overwhelmed?
I have a suggestion!
Get Dressed Up! It will put a bounce in your step…all day long! It’s a great way to start 2016! Think about it!
I bet you will be glad you did!
The Doncaster Fall/Winter 2015 collection is almost HISTORY! Is there one more thing you need from the current season?? A black pair of pants that you love? A sweater that you passed on, but now wonder….What Was I Thinking? If so…CALL ME! I will do my best to find it for you….if possible.
December is the time of year to be BOLD! Try something new! Ruby Red is the go to color for Holiday 2015. If you don’t have something that color in your wardrobe this is a good time to add it! Sparkle and Shine (from the inside out!) are the go to looks for this Christmastime.
Beyonce once said,
The most alluring quality a woman can have is confidence! Sometimes the best place to look for that confidence is right under your nose…in your closet! Do you need something NEW to enhance your confidence?
MERRY CHRISTMAS from me & my family….to you & yours!

The Holidays….that is! They are here!
Thanksgiving has come and gone, we are finishing up the leftovers as we speak, and it is time to think about the holiday season! It is time to start thinking about where you are going, what are you doing, and..last but not least….what are you going to wear!?
This is the time of year to try something New! This year it is all about Red! A beautiful red dress?? Or blouse? Or scarf? And for pete’s sake don’t forget about the Red lips! If you don’t ordinarily go for Red lips, this is a good time to try it! The idea, this time of year, is to Sparkle and Shine, from the inside out! In order to do that we have to be comfortable & confident in the looks we choose. That is why I always advocate to “Wear it in Good Health…and Wear it Often!” When we wear things Often we begin to grow more confident with those New Looks because we are more comfortable wearing them.
A really good way to ease into the Holidays, and something New, is to pair a favorite old friend (your favorite black trousers, let’s say). Think about pairing those pants with a beautiful new Red Blouse!? Or a scarlet sweater maybe? Or, maybe you will decide to try a New Red Lipstick this year…make it a point to wear it with a favorite look you love the first time you give it a try. It will give you the courage to try something else! Or maybe you will decide to wear that statement necklace you bought but you haven’t worn often enough?! Try it! Wear it with your favorite outfit! It might feel Daring at first, but soon it will get easier to be brave enough to try something new!
I bet, as you become more accustomed to trying something new, it will get easier! It will spill over into other parts of your life as well. Suddenly, something that was too scary awhile ago, will seem like more of a possibility.
Maybe, just maybe, I could say Yes to that?
Think about it! ‘Til next time!
I am a Lucky Woman!
It’s November…all ready! It’s time for me to turn my attention to turkey, stuffing, apple pie and gravy! Polish the silver, decorate the tables….and prepare for the company! I know what I’m going to wear…do you?
I am thankful for a wonderful family, husband, children that we love, siblings that we don’t see enough of, a host of in-laws…and even the outlaws! And a thriving Doncaster business that keeps me out of trouble…at least most of the time! I am grateful for the friends and clients that appreciate the product that I represent and the experience that I bring to my business.
As you are sorting out your closet and thinking about where you are going and what you are going to wear think about this…show your world that you respect yourself by dressing well. Your accessories?? The best accessory? Your smile!! It’s even better with RED LIPS! 🙂

We have enjoyed a wonderful whirlwind of travel lately!
It seems that I just cannot stop writing about our recent experiences….traveling! One thing remains a constant….the average man on the street is Very Badly Dressed! You really don’t want to be that person! We don’t get a second chance to make a first impression, don’t we want to be sure it’s good?
I think the best choice for traveling is a suitcase full of BLACK! It goes everywhere, mostly the looks go with each other, and you don’t have many decisions to make while hurrying to get an early start in the morning! Traveling is hard work. It takes a lot of energy! You get a lot of information, all at once, you have to keep your wits about you….all day long…no matter the circumstances! It’s best if you don’t have to spend a lot of effort and energy on your wardrobe.
Make your notes before you leave! Where you will be going. Who you will be going with. Plan accordingly! You will be so glad that you did! Make sure you have a few nice things that you LIKE to wear! At the end of the day, it will feel really good to have something you love to put on for dinner, whether it is with new friends, or old….Because, remember….one is silver and the other gold!
Every time I have a new collection the client walks in and says, I don’t know what I want, but I do know what I don’t want! No more Black!
Ok, Ok, I say!
So … what does she buy, Black! Of course! 🙂
While I always advocate for some color, what is true is that 9 days out of 10 we get up and put on something black! Black bottoms, black t-shirt/sweater, a favorite statement necklace and I am good to go! It is a fairly predictable and therefore comfortable look! That’s a perfect description of a well packed suitcase!
Stay tuned! Every chance I will have some more Pearls of Wisdom from the next trip!
